2023 Domaine Dujac Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru "Monts Luisants" Burgundy, France
ABOUT THE WINE
The 2023 "Monts Luisants" 1er Cru is a pure Pinot Noir grown on a steep, southeast-facing slope just above the village of Morey-Saint-Denis. At higher altitude than many neighboring parcels, this site benefits from cooler temperatures and thin, limestone-rich soils that produce wines of finesse and clarity. This vintage opens with aromas of sour cherry, raspberry, violets, and a touch of underbrush, evolving with aeration to reveal hints of black tea and crushed stone.
Fermented with a significant proportion of whole clusters and aged in French oak (around 60-70% new), the wine achieves a beautiful interplay between structure and perfume. Farming is organic and biodynamic in practice, enhancing site transparency and vibrancy. The 2023 vintage, marked by a relatively cool growing season with excellent ripeness, has yielded a wine of balance and expressive nuance.
Best paired with game birds, roasted duck, or earthy mushroom dishes, this wine also has the tension and structure to reward 10â15 years in the cellar.
